Steelheaders supporting Irideus and the steelhead fly fishing journey

Spey casting for steelhead with the Irideus 6/7 using Irideus Steelhead nymph flies worked out!
Steelhead are amazing creatures well beyond the backing burning runs and the prize they offer as a fly fishing gamefish. The life they lead is a tough battle of survival of the fittest. Life for part of the year in the Pacific ocean is a harsh time with 22 foot Aleutian storms churning the sea into surging place to live. Steelhead will feed on shrimp and small fish when at sea and have a way of adapting back into a natural feeding cycle in the river. It seems fitting they show up to harass the King salmon and steal the eggs they have worked so hard to protect and bring to life. These protein rich eggs turn the fish up a notch as they cycle into a diet of caddis, minnows and other aquatic treats. Steelhead flies on the coast can bring a wide array of big bright patterns that trigger the lateral line of these fish new the fresh water river system. We tend to fish tube flies and large steelhead streamers at this time. The flies will become natural as the season moves on.
The Irideus Articulated Hoochovi Tube fly represents an anchovy which is a seafaring steelheads treat. This fly is one all coastal steelhead fly fishers should try out this year on fresh chrome steelhead.

Before the sun could rise a large steelhead consumed an Irideus Spice Cake Wooly bugger on the 15ft Irideus 150 grain sink tip. Wooly bugger fly fishing fly patterns and also small articulated flies like the Irideus Articulated stoneflies are a top choice for mid river steelhead. Also be sure to try a few large tube flies that the fish may never have seen yet will trigger the attack mode.
Irideus Timothy Horner Signature Series Royal Flush Soft Hackle Nymph Steelhead flies are a top choice for steelheaders using lead flies. These steelhead flies will bring your smaller trail fly pattern to the fish that are triggered by the sight of the Royal Flush Nymph. This fly has been good to us in California and has also served well as a big trout fly pattern. These Irideus Steelhead flies are pictured on the Rise waterproof flip page fly box. A great option for all fly fishers and a top pick for steelhead nymph fishers.

The Irideus Tribute Tube Fly Box is one of the best boxes for storing your heavy tube flies, articulated flies or headvy conehead steelhead fies like moal leech patterns or wooly buggers. The Flex foam will hold your flies in place while bounce down the local steelhead run. Theis tube fly box also has slit foam in the rear to pin hooks or trail hooks from articulated intruder flies.
To see a kid grown up to be a pro steelhead fly fisherman has been a great thing. Micheal has blessed our company with his smile and now true spey casting talent. He has followed the humble approach in life as has our company. To hear he caught another big steelhead seems to be a daily occurrence around here these days. he has also take the time to learn fly tying from some of the best and will be an up and comer on the Irideus signature series flies. Way to go little buddy! The Feather river steelhead that Micheal landed on the 6/7 Irideus switch rod is a trophy people may spend a life time trying to find on this river. As we know around here being a good person is worth it! Good things happen to great people.
At Irideus our friends and spey casters around the world know we are steelheaders and fly fishers also. Our steelhead based fly fishing equipment and flies are build from family dedication and passion from all the great people involved. We bring something special that can be seen in detail in the products. A tough economy meant one thing adjustment and more heart. The times have spread steelhead fishing into a wide river but at the headwaters you will find Irideus standing there. Thank you to all of the wonderful customers and people who have come into our lives. May all of you look down on a steelhead one day soon!
This is the GreenWater fly box fly fishing fly pallet of a dedicated fly fished named Maxwell. He rises to the occasion to tie flies outside the box fitting for this hand cut in USA California custom Timothy Horner steelhead fly box. Each GreenWater box is cut and molded into place by Timothy's hand. The foam is 100% recycled. If it means anything anymore it also was salvaged from dumpsters by hand first. We are committed to continue the owners commitment to his work and hope each fly fisher who reads this will buy a GreenWater box in support of what we are still trying to do.
May each day on the water fill your soul with good things!
One of the best things about the river is Josh.......ya buddy!
