This has been an amazing summer on the Sacramento river. The Chinook salmon run has had us all going in circles between it, steelhead fishing and striped bass fly fishing. One Irideus fly taking top honors this week on the King salmon and striped bass is the Mortal Trout Tube Fly. This Timothy Horner Signature tube fly fishing fly is a well rounded late summer offering for steelhead, trout, salmon, striped bass and many other fly fishing game fish species. It is wonderful to see the numbers up in California with our ocean and river season topping the charts of the world this year. The life cycle of the Chinook salmon is one we cherish and are happy to share our doorstep with.
School sized striped bass will bring a smile to any fly fishers face. This early morning striped treasure made the hours of grey light a wonderful place to be!
A large King Salmon Silver Bullet. Fishing the top end of the King Salmon run brings chrome fish with the vigor of the ocean still with them.
