The Irideus Fish Whisper streamer fly was tied up for bull trout. Yet it has become a go to attack streamer fly that has taken many trophy trout and steelhead this season. It also was a great fly for Dolly Varden and Alaska Leopard trout taking it as a piece of old salmon flesh. A fun fly for dreging deep holes for sluggish fish. It will trigger that lateral line on them in cold water.

Some days its nice to hit the river with dry flies and waking patterns. Surface takes can be so rewarding. The Irideus Bionic Hopper is the one we love. It mimics many bugs like Golden Stoneflies, caddis, Skwallas. Sometimes it will help you find fish and even getting denied can be fun. We will trail a small nymph 18 inches behind this fly. You can tie a leader off the back of this fly and add a small nymph or minnow fly for a change up on picky fish.

Irideus 2019 steelhead Flies are sure to make your season all it should be on the rivers of the world

Irideus 2019 steelhead Flies are sure to make your season all it should be. We test our flies on some of the toughest natural feeding steelhead in the world. It compares to fly fishing trophy trout with small flies. These steelhead follow the natural selection of bugs that share the water ways of the world. This year on the Feather river in California we have had a run of small fish yet with all the pressure even hooking a 3 pound fish is a great accomplishment.

A nice fresh chrome steelhead that fell for the Irideus Lateral Line Hares Ear Nymph. With few salmon spawning we have turned to nymphing during the egg season. You will find most anglers just go by what people are saying. the research shows the are focusing in on nymphs. After they see eggs on indicators all day it something that will actually spook them.

We have also been using a heavier nymph instead of any split shot which most anglers also use. If they have seen it they will tend to shy away from it. This is Ava's All Star in mimics many food offerings on the river. it could be a golden stone or a minnow. They get attention and they will attract steelhead and trout to your line. We run a smaller nymph about 18 inches behind it. They most times will take the smaller nymph flailing behind the dropper fly.

Irideus Egg Holder Prince Nymph flies are a staple for us all year long. Our 2019 rendition only takes the fly to new levels of perfection. We offer this with a crimson head when they are being fished hard with egg patterns. This is a small version of the new tube fly that will be unveiled soon with several other patterns for the swing community.

Fall fly fishing would not be the same without this fly. The Irideus Upper Park Urchin was modeled after an October Caddis yet it seems to speak to large brown trout and rainbows as well as steelhead. When wet and in the current this fly is very special. If you are one of our clients we suggest you have these in your Irideus fly box. It is  a trusted pattern for lead fly or fished alone on the swing.

One nice thing about Irideus flies is that they are tested and true. The hooks are top class and the quality is grade A. If you are landing agressive jack King salmon on a #12 hook its a great fly. Many trophy fish are lost to bent hooks. We can not have this and have weeded out any weak links when it comes to tinsel strength. The owner has collected hooks for decades. he knows what quality is and he delivers it .

A classic 2018 2019 Feather River Steelhead. They make up for their size with strong runs and acrobatic leaps and bounds. If you will be visiting our local water you can expect to see a few of these. Be sure to build a collection of irideus flies before you show up. We see many more visitors showing up each year only to go home frustrated. trust in our research and time on the water it will help you.

Time on the water can never be taken away from a man or woman. Make time for it the water often.

You will also find 2019 Irideus fly fishing boxes that offer exclusive designs and 100% made in the USA options. This is something we are proud to offer. No other company we know of make a  fly box options in the USA. You can find the GreenWater fly boxes. We hope to see the fly fishing community make us number 1 this year for our custom designs and efforts. Please suggest the GreenWater fly box to your local fly shop.

The Irideus Lassen Fly Box is the lightest fly box in the industry yet still holds a days or weekends worth of flies in a pallet that fits in your palm. We say Own it!

The Irideus 2019 Mid Riff soft Hackle is back and re defined by a lighter body color this year. It has proved to be a top fly around the world for our clients. At home we just call it sexy. That's the nick name it has earned.

May your 2019 steelhead fly fishing season start well for you. Be organized on the water this year. Educate yourself and try to find nice people willing to share local knowledge with you. It pays to be a nice person you will find more people willing to share with you. You may even end up with a few flies. This year has been a year of change for our rivers. We hope everyone who reads this will practice catch and release. Steelhead, trout and salmon are counting on us.
